USB-A is the original rectangular USB connector design commonly found on host devices such as desktop computers, laptops, televisions, and chargers. It supports multiple USB generations, provides data transfer and electrical power to connected peripherals, and is not reversible. USB-A does not support alternate modes for native video output and is increasingly being replaced by USB-C on modern systems.
