USB 3.1 expanded the SuperSpeed USB architecture by introducing SuperSpeed+ mode with data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps. It improved signal encoding, reduced overhead, enhanced power efficiency, and supported higher-performance devices such as external solid-state drives, docking stations, and high-resolution data capture equipment. USB 3.1 also improved interoperability with newer connectors and power delivery specifications.
