USB 2.0 significantly enhanced the USB standard by introducing high-speed data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps, enabling support for bandwidth-intensive devices such as external hard drives, webcams, printers, scanners, and flash storage. It increased available bus power, improved efficiency for isochronous transfers used by audio and video devices, and became one of the most widely adopted peripheral interfaces in computing history while remaining backward compatible with USB 1.x devices.
