TiB (tebibyte) is a binary unit of digital information equal to 2^40 bytes, or 1,099,511,627,776 bytes. It is defined by the IEC to distinguish binary-based measurements from decimal terabytes (TB). TiB is commonly used when reporting storage and memory sizes accurately. Example: An operating system may report a 1 TB drive as approximately 0.91 TiB.
