A logical division of the storage area of a hard disk drive that is managed separately. Drive partitions are commonly used to organize and manage data on a storage device. For example, a computer may have a hard drive divided into multiple partitions, with one partition used for the operating system, another for programs and applications, and yet another for user data, such as documents, photos, and videos. Each partition can have its own file system and access permissions, allowing for separate storage and management of different types of data.
