NTFS stands for “New Technology File System,” and is a file system format used by the Microsoft Windows operating system family, including Windows NT, Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8, 10, 11, and Windows Server editions. NTFS is designed to improve upon the limitations of the older FAT (File Allocation Table) file system, which was used in earlier versions of Windows.

Some key features of NTFS include support for file and folder permissions, encryption, journaling for data integrity, larger file and volume sizes, long file names, Unicode support, and efficient data structures. NTFS is the default file system for modern versions of Windows and is widely used for managing storage devices, providing enhanced security and reliability for file storage and management.
