A nanosecond (ns) is a unit of time equal to one billionth of a second (10⁻⁹ seconds). It is commonly used to measure extremely small timing intervals in electronics and computing, such as signal propagation delays and memory access latency. Nanosecond-scale timing is critical in high-speed systems. Example: CPU cache access times are often measured in nanoseconds.
