IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) is the successor to IPv4 and was designed to address the limitation of available IP addresses. It uses 128-bit addresses, providing an extremely large address space and improved features such as simplified headers and built-in support for security. IPv6 enables the continued growth of the Internet. Example: An IPv6 address such as 2001:0db8::1.
