iPadOS is a specialized operating system developed by Apple for the iPad. It branched off from iOS used on the iPhone, to provide features and capabilities that take advantage of the iPad’s larger display and more powerful hardware. The operating system shares many similarities with iOS, including its user interface, app ecosystem through the App Store, and underlying technologies. However, iPadOS also includes features that are designed to take advantage of the larger display and enhanced capabilities of the iPad, such as improved multitasking, support for Apple Pencil for drawing and handwriting input, and enhanced file management capabilities with the Files app.
