Hyper-V is a virtualization technology developed by Microsoft. It is a type 1 hypervisor that runs directly on the hardware of a host system and allows for the creation and management of virtual machines (VMs). Hyper-V enables users to run multiple operating systems and applications on a single physical computer or server simultaneously. Key features include isolation of VMs from each other and the host system, snapshot and cloning capabilities, resource management for VMs, and live migration for seamless VM mobility. It is commonly used in enterprise environments for server virtualization, testing, development, and other scenarios requiring the use of virtualized environments.
