Hibernate is a power-saving state used by computers and other electronic devices that saves the current state of the system to disk and completely powers off the machine. Unlike sleep mode, where the system remains powered on and uses a small amount of energy to maintain the current session in memory, hibernation stores all open applications, files, and settings on the hard drive and turns off the power completely.
When the device is turned back on, it restores the saved state from the disk, allowing users to resume their work exactly where they left off without losing any data. Hibernate is particularly useful for laptops and portable devices, as it helps conserve battery life when the device will not be used for an extended period while still allowing users to quickly return to their previous session.
