Baseband is a transmission mode where the entire bandwidth of the transmission medium is dedicated to a single data signal. Unlike broadband, which splits the bandwidth into multiple channels to transmit multiple signals simultaneously, baseband transmits one signal at a time, making it ideal for short-distance, high-speed communication. This approach is commonly used in local area networks (LANs), such as Ethernet, where data is sent over the network medium in a straightforward, single-channel format.  For example, the term “100Base-T” refers to a specific type of Ethernet that uses baseband transmission at 100 Mbps over twisted-pair cables.
