A line of processors based on the ARM architecture, developed by Apple for use in its Mac computers, iPads, and other devices. Apple Silicon combines multiple components, such as the CPU, GPU, memory, and neural engine, into a single system-on-a-chip (SoC). This integration enables enhanced performance, energy efficiency, and unified memory access, supporting complex tasks while conserving battery life. Apple Silicon also allows Macs to run iOS and iPadOS apps natively, promoting greater ecosystem compatibility. Apple began replacing Intel processors with Apple Silicon in 2020, starting with the M1 chip, followed by the M1 Pro, M1 Max, M2, and newer models.
