480p is a display resolution standard with a pixel count of 640×480, commonly used in early digital video formats. Known as “standard definition,” 480p provides lower image clarity compared to high-definition (HD) resolutions. It was widely used in DVD formats, early television broadcasts, and online video before HD became the standard. While less detailed than HD resolutions, 480p remains suitable for smaller screens or low-bandwidth applications where high resolution is not essential.
